We know eyebrows help keep moisture out of our eyes when we sweat or walk around in the rain. The arch shape diverts the rain or sweat around to the sides of our face, keeping our eyes relatively dry. With that being said we also know eyebrows are one of the first things people notice about you.
There was a time not to long ago when brows were worn shorter and thinner, however at this time we now have fuller and a more natural brow. The bridge (front part) is now a rectangular shape and the tail is taper after the arch. The best way to have the perfect brow is to make sure they are the correct size for your face. The right size brow can not only make you look younger and emphasize your eyes, but you can also get away with wearing less make-up.
We all want the perfect eyebrows that some people are blessed with, but how do we get them.
For all face shapes there are rules to be followed: First, the brow should start at the bridge of your nose.. Take a pencil and hold it straight up from the side of your nose bone. The start of the brow should be where the pencil is resting above your eye. Second, look straight ahead, have the pencil resting on the side of your nose (at the bottom) and bring the top of the pencil over your pupil. The arch should start there. Too many people put the arch in the middle of the eyebrow and that does not give you the right look. And thirdly, take the pencil from the bottom side of your nose to the corner of your eye and this is where the tail should end. Be sure your tail always taper to a crisp point to best lift the eye.
For all the beginners out there you can always mark a dot, with a brow pencil, on each of these three areas on you brow. The next step would be connect the dots and fill in. For more advanced people there are ways to do your brows to match the shape of your face which we will save for a different post.
When doing eyebrow we have found a eyebrow kit to be especially good. This kit has two color powders (light and dark), a wax and a brush. When trying to make thin brows appear fuller, the trick is layers. Don’t be in a rush to do your eyebrows. If you are using an eyebrow kit you should first fill with a lighter color as explained in the above steps. Then go in with a darker color and create hair strokes. This is very easy to achieve with the brush. This gives the brow dimension and a really natural look. You can finish off the look and make the eyebrows darker with the wax. The wax can also be use first especially if you have unruly eyebrows where the hair goes everywhere. By using the wax first it hold down the hair and it is easier to shape them with the powder.
